RUMBA SANTA, in existence since 2010, is a Latin ska-punk band from Kiel. The musicians from Ecuador, Venezuela, Colombia, Cuba, Ghana, Turkey, Ukraine and Schleswig-Holstein transform the rather gray and rough North German Baltic Sea climate into colorful ecstatic dance orgies with Latin American flair. The hot-blooded interplay of catchy and powerful ska-punk and rock elements on the one hand and melodic and rhythmic dexterity on the other forms the foundation for the rap-influenced vocals. The result is a colorful, powerful and rousing firework display of energy, passion and the rhythm of the Latin American attitude to life.
Rumba Santa have brought these fireworks to the stage in recent years at numerous concerts and various festivals with bands such as Abuela coca from Uruguay, Rocola Bacalao from Ecuador, Tequila and the Sunrise Gang, Sheep's E-Band, Plastic Skanksters and others.
The content of the band's Spanish-language songs deals with topics such as poverty and social injustice as well as the issue of migrants who are threatened with deportation. But they also deal with friendship and heartbreak. The different cultural influences and spirited lifestyles that make RUMBA SANTA unique can be felt here subliminally. This becomes clear on their first official album entitled "Nuevo Barrio", which was released on May 26, 2018 and can now be heard on all popular streaming services. This is RUMBA SANTA's second self-produced album. Their debut album entitled "Ciudad Sin Ley" was released in 2014.
